A Welcome from the Headteacher

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child.  This website aims to give you some insight into our school, its organisation, expectations and ethos, we hope you will find it useful.

We aim to provide a warm caring and friendly environment in which each child is encouraged to reach their potential.  Our motto ‘where every child matters’ underpins all we try to achieve.

Everything we do and value in our school is informed and enriched by the deep and life-giving insights of the Christian tradition.  All members of the school, children, parents, staff, helpers, carers, are encouraged to see themselves as belonging together in a loving Community, bound together by mutual respect.

School History

In 1863, before education was compulsory for all, a school was established in Millbrook.  It was the foundation of the present Church of England Voluntary Aided School and the children met in the old Sunday School building.  The 1870 Education Act paved the way for free and compulsory education for all.  The Vicar of Millbrook made it his mission in the village to provide the building at Blindwell Hill and the project began in 1913.  The trust under which the school was founded sought to provide a school for all of the children from the village and surrounding area and to make available to them a Christian environment in which to grow and learn.  The foundation stone was laid in 1915 and despite the war years the project   continued, using scout labour and high quality bricks from the local brickworks.  Early in 1916 the new building was ready to be used.  Improvement work has been carried out at various times including the provision of a purpose built hall complete with equipment for stage presentations and physical education and an I.C.T. suite of 16 computers.

School Aims

We aim to educate the children at Millbrook School in a friendly caring environment where high standards of work and behaviour are fostered.  The school will endeavour to develop in each child the attitudes, responsibilities and achievements which will enable him or her to have a fulfilling life in the outside world.

We aim to help children to:

· develop confidence and  a positive self image

 · make the most of the skills they have

 · develop lively, enquiring minds

 · develop an understanding of Christian traditions, values and worship

 · learn to co-operate with others
